Our last day in the southern area of Scotland, before heading to the highlands, we had to visit Stirling Castle and Doune Castle. The history o Stirling Castle is varied and interesting. It is said that a Douglas was beheaded there for the Kings displeasure at him killing a Colville. Many kings and queens have been crowned at Stirling Castle, as well as Mary Queen of Scots, and has a very strategic location sitting atop Castle Hill.
