Rothiemurchus Forest Estate & Loch an Eilean Castle

After a short walk-around Loch Morlich, we headed over to Rothiemurchus Forest. This is privately owned land, but by UK law, they have to allow the public to visit. There is a beautiful lake (loch) there surrounded by wooded areas and lovely walking paths. Out in the middle of the lake is an island with an ancient castle, Loch an Eilean Castle. (Island in a lake) The friend we were staying with in Aviemore said that as a child she used to swim out to that castle.

Inshriach Nursery - Country Garden and Nursery

All that walking around the beautiful lochs led us next to a lovely nursery. Beautiful gardens and a lovely little tea room where we enjoyed some cake and coffee while we sat looking out into the forest and watched for the red squirrel and birds to show up!
