Loch Morlich

After riding the rail up to the top of the Cairngorm Mountains, we headed out to see Loch Morlich. It has a wonderful sandy beach and being that it was a fairly sunny, warm day for Scotland, many people were out enjoying it! Still, I preferred a sweater! Along with the sandy beach, it also has lovely walking paths. We totally enjoyed hiking around this beautiful loch!

Aviemore!

After returning from Orkney Islands, we packed up the next morning and headed to Aviemore, leaving beautiful Inverness to hopefully return another time. Before leaving Inverness, we went over to our favorite place for breakfast, The Highwayman, and a walk around town!

It is really so beautiful in the highlands, I'd love to visit again some day. A last view, waiting in our hotel lobby for our friend from Aviemore to pick us up!

Aviemore is located about 30 miles south of Inverness, at the foot of the highlands. We spent 4 days there staying with some friends. They had a full schedule planned for us while there showing us some of their beautiful area.
We spent a leisurely afternoon visiting with our wonderful friends in Aviemore, then went out to dinner at the Old Bridge Inn for our 45th wedding anniversary. This is a lovely restaurant on the banks of the Spey River, with a lovely old bridge across the river. Forty five years of marriage, spent in Scotland with lovely friends! What could be better!!

A light drizzly rain...beautiful setting!
