Leaving Bath via Wales and on to Liverpool June 26 & 27, 2014

From Bath, we took the train to Wales, just for a look on our way to Liverpool. The area (in fact all areas through the whole trip) are so green it is amazing. Living here in the desert, we just don't have that much green or so many variety of flowers. The signs in Wales are in English, with Gaelic above. Here are a few. Gaelic is found everywhere in Wales, and we even saw Gaelic in other areas when we got to Scotland.

The Gaelic and the green fields......

From Wales, we made our journey on to Liverpool, arriving at the train station about 4:00 p.m. This gave us time to look around the city for a while, get something to eat and get checked into our hotel before venturing to the Cavern Club - the place where the Beatles got their start!!

The Cavern Club where the Beatles got their start in Liverpool.

We had tickets for the show that started at 8:00 and at 9:00 a group came out looking similar to the Beatles to play their music. An enjoyable evening with dinner in an English pub and drinks at The Cavern Club! The next day we took a Beatles Tour. Very interesting to see the places the Beatles lived, went to school and 'hung out'! The tour began at Albert Dock. We arrived early and walked around looking at the dock and the river - Mersey River.

Some of the buildings along Penny Lane - the area where the Beatles grew up and went shopping, etc as children

.

The birthplace of George Harrison - to conceal his identity, he would check into hotels using the name Arnold Grove - the name of the street on which he grew up.

John Lennon would play in the wooded area behind a home named, flirting with a girl who lived in the home. A girl's home, it seems like I was told. Across the street was Strawberry Field bought by the Salvation Army in 1937. In the line to the song, 'nothing to get hung about' it refers to what John's mother would say - he'd get hung - if she caught him hopping the fence to see the girls that lived there....so - nothing to get hung about refers to how no 'mischief' was going on -

After Liverpool, we took a plane over to Belfast. That's coming up next as soon as I can get time to get it posted!!
This is all for our tour around England.
