Dublin June 29, 2014

We left Bangor via train to Belfast, then got on another train to go to Dublin....pics of the train station in Bangor, Northern Ireland....

Of course we could not be in Northern Ireland without taking a day to head down to The Republic of Ireland as well, so on Sunday June 29 we took the train and headed to Dublin for the day. Jim's family history comes from the Vikings, so we headed off to see the Viking Museum.

This is the Viking that is studied in Ireland, I think. When I was teaching
fifth grade, we taught mostly about Leif Ericson.

The weapons and the way they lived.
Of course, our next place we wanted to see was the Book of Kells. We are not allowed to take pictures inside, but if you are ever in Dublin, I highly recommend viewing this exhibit.

and....some pictures of Trinity College as we walked around the grounds..........

St. Patrick's Cathedral...another inspiring, amazing structure!

These buildings are just so massive, it is impossible to capture the entire structure in one picture....and impossible to make them straight because of the angle of how they are taken. Again, I just can't imagine the work involved in building these massive buildings without modern machinery! Built in 1191

Then, of course, we had to make a stop at Guinness Brewery!!

and......one more famous distillery....Jameson's

Then a stroll around the town, various shots of various locations.....and, again, Gaelic was found here and there.

My family name on a building?

The train station....since we were on the last train back to Belfast that day, we had to get going and did not have time
to stop at a pub, but we found a Burger King!!
